I am convinced that most people do not need to learn how to pray; they need to Just Pray! Prayer is like any other important discipline in the Christian life. If you don't do it, you won't reap the benefits and blessings that God wants you to have. If you want to reap the benefits and blessings of prayer, then you need to Just Pray! This is what The Prayer Motivator is all about. Down through the years, nothing has motivated me to pray more than verses on prayer in the Bible and powerful quotes from saints of the past and present regarding their experience with prayer.

- Daniel Whyte III, from the Introduction

He believes, according to the Scriptures, that the older women should teach the younger women. However, after Letters to Young Black Men: Advice & Encouragement for a Difficult Journey became a bestselling book, readers requested that Whyte write a book for young black women as well. He prayed about it, and was led to do so. Regarding the purpose of this book, Whyte states:

This book is more about prevention than it is about healing. There are many other great men and women of God who are doing great work in the healing and restoration department for young black women. I believe that many of the problems that young black women are dealing with today can be prevented from happening in the first place. I also believe that in order for young women to be victorious in this life, they must operate from a position of strength and power. This book will empower them to win against their enemies: the devil, sorry men, and even themselves. I hope that they will read it and never live a defeated life again.

Daniel Whyte III writes a heartfelt book to his daughters and to other young black women, on the various issues of life that they face today. Whyte actually commenced the writing of this book from his hospital bed during a routine stay for chest pains. Symbolically, if Daniel Whyte III were on his deathbed, the words contained in this book are those that he would say to his six daughters. Written just for the young black woman in your life, whether you are a father, mother, grandparent, or Sunday school teacher, Letters to Young Black Women is overflowing with loving, fatherly, "advice and encouragement for a difficult journey."

"I didn't play when it came to delivering my drugs and getting my money," Jemeker says. "I was serious about the game."

Jemeker was obsessed with power and control, something she picked up as a young girl.

"I was in the fourth grade, so probably about eight, nine years old. One day I came home and we were evicted from our home. I quite didn't understand what was going on, but I knew that it wasn't right. I just know that we were put out and had to stay in a motel."

But Jemeker wanted a better life for herself and asked to live with her grandmother in Mississippi. Her mom agreed and scraped together enough money for a plane ticket. She lived there for six years and didn't return to L.A. until she was 14. It wasn't long before she met Daff.

"He had a certain charisma about himself. He was a hustler, and I knew he was because I would see him come in my neighborhood and gamble with the guys on the block. So he had a lot of money and seeing him with a lot of money attracted me."

But Daff made his money as a marijuana dealer, and before long he drew Jemeker into the business. Now that Jemeker had money, her lifestyle began to change.

"Having money made me feel like I was in control. I felt like I can do anything that I wanted to do, because I had money and with money came people, with people came power and I enjoyed that."

Jemeker and Daff started to sell cocaine. Their business and opulent lifestyle grew, establishing her and Daff as la's biggest cocaine dealers. They married, and she became pregnant with her son, Anthony. After his birth, Jemeker soon realized that her lifestyle was not the best way to raise her son.

"It was so many things happening in the streets that I was talking to Daff and I was telling him, 'Let's move to Texas.' My best girlfriend lived in Texas. He said, 'Okay. You know, let's talk about it.' And the very next day he was killed."

Daff had been shot in South Central Los Angeles.

"After Daff was killed, I went into hibernation for a little bit, because it was so hard for me to raise my son without his father."

Jemeker took herself out of the game for a while, until one of her dealers convinced her to get back into the business.

"They were telling me that they needed me to supply drugs back to them, because they had a family and that's all they knew, too. So in my mind I felt compelled that I needed to get back in the game to help them, because I was their connection to the drugs."

She decided to broaden her business and opened an upscale, hair company in Hollywood

"I began to take the money that I made from the drug gang and I laundered it into a hair company. Pretend like I was this business lady that sold Italian hair that was imported from Italy, which it was. If I had to take care of my drug business, I would put on another hat and I was 'Queen Pin.'"

Jemeker managed to hide her double life until one day, her reign as 'Queen Pin' came to an abrupt end.

"I ended up being on the run after an ex-boyfriend of mine got busted. In exchange for his freedom, he gave me up."

So Jemeker skipped town. She left her son with her mother and used her drug connections to hide from the FBI. For 18 months she moved from town to town. It was her son that drew Jemeker back to Los Angeles and into the hands of the FBI.

"Out of the love for my son, I came to his graduation, and when I came to his graduation, I was arrested. It was the worst feeling that any mother could feel, for their child to see them get arrested... the worst feeling."

The arrest was a wake-up call.

"I thought I had everything under control. But when they put those handcuffs on me, I was in their world, a different world that I've never experienced, that I'd never even thought that I would experience."

The court found her guilty. As she waited for sentencing, she became desperate.

"I remember crying out to God and saying, 'God, if you're really God, get me out of this mess. I can't handle this.'"

http://www.cbn.com/700club/features/amazing/Jemeker-Hairston-Queen-Pin-101810.aspx

His combination of speed, anticipation, and toughness make him ideal for the position. In the 2008 season alone, he made over 432 tackles, 7 sacks, and 17 interceptions. And once again, this 3-time pro bowler helped his team win a trip to compete for their second Super Bowl Championship in three years. When Troy is on the field he's a lion!

"I try to be passionate about every aspect of my life," Troy said, "how I love my wife, how I serve my wife, how I serve God. In the same way I try to be passionate about football. I try to serve my coaches with passion. I try to serve my teammates with passion. I try to serve God, through football, with passion."

Troy has been a Christian since college. After he entered the NFL in 2003, he's worked hard to maintain good character and not allow fame to get the best of him.

"Pride is tough. You go to high school and its pride, courage; it's all these types of words that we use to motivate us," Troy said. "I don't think there's anywhere in the Scriptures through the saints lives where pride was ever a positive characteristic of anybody. That kind of egotism is a really tough struggle, especially in this business and this entertainment business that we have. It's a big struggle of mine."

Although pride can be a struggle for any athlete, Troy says that it's not the obvious things that are the hardest to deal with.

"It's like the big things that are the easiest to turn away from," Troy said. "It's like the accumulation of small things [that are hard]. You know, people know adultery's bad and murder's bad. I'm not going to go out and sleep with the first girl I see. But when your eyes start wandering, and your eyes start wandering a little bit more, and your eyes start becoming a little more jealous and envious, and these passions start rising up inside of you - that's when it gets really dangerous. Because the devil doesn't work that way. His strategy's always to be very subtle and continue to build on top of that evil seed that he planted."

With all of the struggles and temptation that Troy faces, he says that prayer keeps him rooted.

He moved from Orlando to Los Angeles seeking to sing R&B. Tony's dreams of stardom just weren't coming true, so he turned to God for help.

He prayed, "Something has gotta happen. God if You're real, please help me; help me get out of this."

"I gave my life to Christ right there. I changed my life around and said, 'You know what? I want to start to sing for the Lord.' I wanted to do gospel," says Tony.

Tony started his new career as a gospel singer. He thought his life was back on track. That is, until the night he went to pick up his wife.

"I just went to pick up my wife from work. When I pulled up to the house where she worked, bullets started to ring from out behind me. The first bullet hit my left leg and my thigh area. I turned to run and as I turned to run, two more bullets followed me, hit my leg again, and I ran and fell down beside my car. Another young man started to shoot me all over again. A bullet hit me in my right thigh area. Another bullet hit the ground and came up through my leg. Another bullet went across my face and my chest."

"And I said, 'Enough! In the name of Jesus!' A young man was standing behind the tree, and he had the gun pointing towards my head," says Tony. "I said, 'Why?' 'What have I done to make you shoot me like this? You don't even know me. What have I done?' "

"His hand began to tremble, and he lowered the gun. At that point, I knew I was going to die. It was too much blood."

One of the bullets shattered Tony's main artery. He bled to death right there on the street. His wife, Chriselda, ran outside when the shooting stopped.

"When I went there, he was laid out shot in his blood. I actually saw myself that the ambulance was giving him CPR. I asked to go with him and they would not take me because they were giving him CPR, trying to bring him back," remembers Chriselda.

"I started to float towards these clouds. These clouds opened up and through these clouds, I saw this huge city. It was so strange, but the city was beautiful. I saw these colors I've never seen before in my life... these strange, glowing colors, radiant colors, just glowing out of this huge city. All of of a sudden this voice said, 'It's not yet your time. Go back.' I'm like, 'No.' It said my name. 'Tony, your work is not yet done. Go back.' "

The doctor had already pronounced him dead.

"I opened my eyes. I looked up. I was on life support and this thing was in my throat; this long tube with a trach was in my throat. This doctor was standing over me and he was about to throw this sheet over my head. But he dropped the sheet, and he ran out the room. Doctors and nurses ran to his room. They were checking me and they couldn't believe. They said, 'You was dead for 30 minutes.' " Usually after a few minutes of death, they expected me to have brain damage."

Tony was alive, but the doctor had some disappointing news for him.
